Derek Fry
Canada Regional President
Derek Fry is president of the Canada region. He assumed his current responsibilities in March 1996, following a 35-year banking career in Canada and the UK.
Prior to joining the Canada region, Fry served at the Bank of Montreal in a number of senior management roles. From 1995 to 1996, he served as the senior vice president of customer service, responsible for strategic planning of branch technology, smart card and PC/Internet banking. He was senior vice president of electronic banking services from 1988 to 1995, where he was responsible for all credit card, debit card and electronic banking programs. Fry served as vice chairman and chairman of MasterCard Association of Canada and was the chairman of the board of Interac from 1988 to 1994. He represented the Bank of Montreal on several committees of the Canadian Bankers Association.
His banking career began in 1961, when he joined National Westminster Bank in London. During his 15 years with Nat West, he was involved in trade finance and computer operations.
