Mari
Business Leader
Global Brand Management

Never a Dull Day
Even after 22 years in marketing with Visa, Mari can honestly say there’s never a dull day. “Because Visa is constantly changing and evolving, I’m always working on new things.”
When Mari first began working at Visa — she joined the company with both agency and corporate experience — she managed Presentation and Video Services. She focused on companywide Presentation Services, working with a number of regions. “This was before desktops were available for presentations, and what made it so interesting was collaborating with people throughout the entire company.”
Mari then transitioned into U.S. Brand Management and then Global Brand Management. “My career has evolved with Visa, because with every innovation came new projects and responsibilities. I think that’s what has kept my job exciting and engaging, adapting to the changing organization.”
One of the most challenging projects Mari worked on was the launch of a new corporate identity (Visa logo) in 2005, which included a new card design and a fresh look and feel for all communications materials. “Never before had we changed so many stakeholder materials. It was a huge undertaking, and we had a great taskforce and highly functioning team to ensure successful implementation. To be part of such a monumental effort that touched so many people within the organization was an amazing experience!”
Making the Most of What Visa Offers
To help further her marketing expertise Mari has taken advantage of Visa’s educational programs, enrolling in courses at San Francisco State University, Design Management Institute, American Marketing Association and other organizations.
She has also leveraged Visa’s generosity to benefit others, including Matching Gift Program donations to local San Francisco organizations including SF AIDS Foundation, Glide Foundation, Project Open Hand, Meals on Wheels and Hospitality House. “My husband and I regularly donate to charitable organizations, which Visa continues to support through the Matching Gift Program.”
While there may be a number of reasons Mari has chosen to stay at Visa all these years, it all comes down to the people. “Once you work at a company of Visa’s stature – an industry leader, great brand, and one with such a high caliber of people – it’s hard to imagine working anywhere else.”
