VidayDinero.com Expands Visa's Multilingual Financial Literacy Efforts

SAN FRANCISCO, July 26, 2007

Visa USA and the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) today launched a free, comprehensive Spanish-language personal finance website called VidayDinero.com. Visa and the USHCC designed VidayDinero.com as a free resource to assist Latino families with their everyday budgeting and financial needs, as well as to prepare them for significant financial decisions.

The lessons and financial education resources found on VidayDinero.com have been developed using Visa's free, award-winning online financial education program, Practical Money Skills for Life. Available in English, Spanish and Chinese, Practical Money Skills for Life contains an array of tips to help prepare for life changing financial events, from planning a baby to saving for college and retirement, as well as a number of budget calculators and interactive games.

"Visa developed VidayDinero.com with the USHCC for our nation's Spanish-speaking community because of our decade-long commitment to improving the financial skills of all Americans," said Jason Alderman, director of financial education for Visa. "By working with the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Visa has found a powerful ally in our mission to empower America's Latinos through financial education."

The USHCC implements and strengthens national programs that assist the economic development of Hispanic business and works to promote financial success in the Hispanic community.

"Utilizing the financial tools in the United States is one of the first steps to achieving your financial goals and realizing the American dream," said Michael L. Barrera, CEO and President of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. "With partners like Visa, we can continue to improve the state of Hispanic America by providing trusted and professional advice to empower the nation's Spanish speakers who want to make the most of the financial resources available to them."

The free resources on VidayDinero.com include:

  • VidayDinero.com at home - Valuable financial advice for your family, including resources on creating budgets, understanding the banking system, savings and investments, credit and debit cards, managing debt, smart shopping and financial security.
  • Financial education for the classroom - VidayDinero.com provides teachers with lesson plans and classroom tools in Spanish, for students of all age groups. Teachers can also visit VidayDinero.com and order free CDs with helpful multimedia tools, like calculators and financial education games for students.
