About the athlete

As a youth, Noah Lyles was active in Gymnastics and Basketball. He started Track & Field at the age of 12, following in his parents’ footsteps who also competed in the sport. In 2014, his first Gold Medal was at the Summer Youth Olympic Games Nanjing 2014 in the 200m. In 2015, he was named 2015 High School Boys Athlete of the Year by Track & Field News — an honor that he received again the following year. In 2016, Lyles won Golds at the World U20 Championships in the 100m and 4x100 Relay. That same year, both Noah and his younger brother Josephus (also a Track athlete), turned professional. At the 2019 World Championships, he took Gold with his time of 19.83 seconds in the 200m. Lyles also won the 2019 100m and 200m Diamond League Title, making him the first man to win both in the same year.

Lyles made his Olympic debut at the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020 where he won the Bronze Medal in the 200m. Building on his success from the Olympic Games, Noah went on to win Gold and a Silver at the World Championships in 2022, setting his personal best and a National Record in the 200m with a time of 19.31. He followed that up with three Gold Medals at the World Championships in 2023 including his third in the 200m, which makes him the second-most decorated man in the history of the 200m at the World Champs in addition to becoming a World Champion in the 100m and 4x100m relay for the first time.

Lyles is just as active off the track. You can find him strutting on the Paris Fashion Week catwalk or producing his own Hip-Hop album. And the American Track star’s hairstyle takes influence from popular Japanese anime series'.
