About the athlete

Shigeyuki, who competes under the name Shigekix, is a rising star in the world of Breaking, one of the Olympic Games’ newest and exciting additions.

Inspired by his older sister, Shigeyuki began Breaking at the age of seven and soon became one of the best young competitors in the world. In 2017, at the age of 15, Shigeyuki burst on the scene, competing in major competitions against breakers twice his age. The following year he earned the first place in qualification for the Youth Olympic Games Buenos Aires 2018.

After years of dominating the youth competitions, Shigeyuki broke through to the adult circuit where he wasted no time getting back to his winning ways. In 2022, he won the Bronze Medal at the World Championships, earned first place in Olympic Qualifying, and took home the Silver Medal at the World Championships in Seoul. He is currently ranked as the number three male Breaker in the world.

Shigeyuki has hit his stride at the right time and will head to Paris as a favorite for Olympic Breaking glory.
