BBVA is announcing the launch of a mobile application that allows its Visa cardholders to make contactless payments on Apple’s iOS¹ operating system directly from the BBVA mobile banking app. The solution will be progressively available to all BBVA customers in Spain. With this initiative, BBVA and Visa reinforce their commitment to innovation and fair competition in the digital space, enabling customers to pay directly from the BBVA app using Near Field Communications (NFC) technology, without relying on third-party services.
With the launch of BBVA Pay, users will have a secure and fully integrated alternative within the bank’s digital ecosystem, without needing to share data with third parties. The app offers the same seamless experience as a native wallet, but with added benefits, as all personal and financial information is managed within the BBVA app, enhancing security, traceability, and control over each transaction. Additionally, users will enjoy perks and promotions and gain access to extra features. The solution will roll out to all customers over the coming weeks. The development of this solution strengthens BBVA’s commitment to innovation, competition, and continuous improvement of the customer experience.
