April is Financial Literacy Month, a time that is dedicated to promoting financial education and empowering individuals to make informed financial decisions. Visa has been at the forefront of financial education efforts for decades, offering a variety of programs and resources for individuals of all ages.

Empowering students and families with financial knowledge

Visa’s Practical Money Skills helps parents, teachers and students improve their financial management skills. It includes interactive games, educational comics and activities that make learning about finances engaging and accessible.

In celebration of Financial Literacy Month, Visa's Regional and Community Accounts team hosted more than 60 local students for a Financial Football event in Scottsdale, Arizona.

One of the most popular resources is Financial Football, a game created in partnership with the National Football League, which combines the excitement of football with essential financial lessons. The game has been played more than 12 million times and is available online, in classrooms and at Visa-hosted events nationwide.

Visa has also partnered with Marvel to create entertaining educational content focused on investing and financial planning. The latest edition features an all-new variant of Captain America #1 and an original Marvel + Visa Avengers story, making financial education both fun and informative.

Resources for educators

Visa recognizes the pivotal role teachers play in shaping the financial futures of students nationwide, and provides comprehensive tools through downloadable workbooks, lesson plans and worksheets on topics such as budgeting, credit management and student loans. These resources enable teachers to seamlessly integrate financial lessons into their curricula.

As a founding partner of FinEd50, Visa collaborates with its fellow coalition members to deliver financial education curriculum to educators, helping ensure that teachers are well-equipped to impart essential financial knowledge to their students. Since the coalition’s inception, FinEd50 has successfully advocated for legislative changes, resulting in an increase from 27 to 35 states now requiring personal finance courses as part of their high school curriculum. To date, the coalition has also trained more than 2,500 teachers through professional development programs.
