- Create a compelling snapshot of your education, experiences and skills with your resume.
- Look for keywords from the job posting and apply them (only if applicable) to your resume.
- Browse peer examples from your industry. This can help you see to keep it simple, short and to the point.
- Make sure to include relevant information only. This should feel like it applies to the position you are seeking.
- Use active language when describing your roles and omit any extraneous words.
- Apply sections and subheads when necessary to divide up your resume.
- Account for appropriate margins. Generally, 1-inch should work.
- Proofread and edit what you share.
- Consider a unique resume for each position (if requirements call for something different).
- If asked to do a virtual interview, put your whole self out there. Prepare in advance. Is the lighting right? Background okay? Are you on time? Dressed for the part? No matter what role you are interviewing for, we want you to be prepared and ready.
