Visa has been future focused since its very beginning. For more than 60 years, technology and innovation have been at the heart of Visa’s mission to uplift everyone, everywhere, by being the best way to pay and get paid.

From stopping fraud in its tracks to making every transaction faster and more secure and reliable, Visa is building smarter, safer systems that benefit consumers, businesses, and economies everywhere.

At the Visa Payments Vault, we are showcasing how the Visa network is at the center of everything by unlocking four components that highlight why Visa is one of the most trusted, secure and reliable brands in the world. They are payments security, financial education, small business and entrepreneurship, and innovation and technology.

Unlocking trust

Trust is the foundation of everything we do at Visa, and we earn that trust every day with our world-class security. We know that without security, our customers can’t thrive.

Visa builds trust with top-tier security, analyzing more than 500 data points on up to 83,000 transactions per second. With $12 billion invested in fraud prevention over five years, Visa blocked over $40 billion in fraud in 2023 alone. Also, Visa’s recently unveiled Visa Scam Disruption, which includes an intelligence team with experience in law enforcement, looks beyond Visa’s network — to the dark web and social media — to uncover new scams as they emerge. Overall, Visa Scam Disruption has blocked $650 million in attempted fraud since 2024.

Unlocking potential

Visa’s commitment to financial education is not just a pillar of the Visa Payments Vault — it’s a cornerstone of our mission to uplift everyone, everywhere.

As a founding partner of FinEd50, Visa and the Council for Economic Education is working to expand access to personal finance education across all 50 states. This coalition champions legislation that ensures every high school student learns the basics of money management. Since its founding in 2022, the coalition has championed legislation that ensures every high school student learns the basics of money management and trained over 2,500 educators — equipping them with free, classroom — ready resources and access to platforms such as Practical Money Skills.

But, Visa doesn’t stop at the classroom, we make financial education engaging and accessible through creative tools like interactive web games and comic books that bring money lessons to life for teens and young adults.

Unlocking growth

Visa knows that small businesses are the backbone of communities across America. In fact, the Small Business Administration (SBA) shows that small businesses make up 43.5 percent of the U.S. gross domestic product (GDP) and employ 45.9 percent of the American workforce — that’s 61.6 million people. Visa empowers small businesses with the same secure, reliable payments network trusted by major retailers.

With customers spending 220 percent more on cards than cash, Visa helps businesses grow by making sure they can process every type of transaction including the newest tap to phone. And Visa is evolving new payments technologies all the time to make things as safe and seamless as possible for both merchants and consumers. Visa stands behind every transaction, giving small businesses the same world — class fraud protection and reliability as the largest retailers and banks.

Unlocking progress

Visa has spent more than 30 years using AI to fight fraud and enhance customer experiences with continuous innovations. In the Visa Payments Vault, Visa is demonstrating several new innovations that were highlighted in April at the 2025 Global Product Drop and others including:

Tokenization

Tokenization creates unique code, or "token," to replace sensitive payments info (like a 16-digit card number). Tokens reduce fraud and increase sales for merchants, showing a 34 percent reduction in fraud and an increase of 4.7 percent in authorization rates. Visa's goal is to tokenize 100 percent of transactions.

Visa Intelligent Commerce

Visa Intelligent Commerce is a groundbreaking initiative set to transform how we shop and pay. Soon, millions of people will turn to AI agents to find the perfect sweater, plan their next vacation or check off their grocery lists. This suite of integrated APIs empowers developers to securely deploy AI-powered commerce at scale, unlocking more seamless and personalized shopping experiences for consumers. Visa believes that by bringing much-needed Visa security and transparency they can greatly improve trust of the idea.

Visa Direct

Visa Direct allows money movement to happen securely on Visa payments rails. Traditional ACH transactions take several days to transfer funds. But what if people need access to their funds sooner? For example, Lyft drivers get paid weekly, including their tips. But what if a driver needs access to funds sooner than that? Maybe just to keep their tank full or maybe their car breaks down — what then? Visa Direct allows Lyft to transfer wages and tips to the driver in real time.
